On Tuesday 21 November, the improvement works to the Stadio Tre Fontane were presented by AS Roma, the Councillor for Major Events, Sport, Tourism and Fashion, and ATI Tre Fontane ahead of AS Roma Women’s second Champions League group stage match against Ajax on Thursday 23 November.

The Head of Women’s Football at AS Roma, Elisabetta Bavagnoli, Councillor Alessandro Onorato, President of the City Council of Rome, Svetlana Celli, and President of ATI Tre Fontane, Ugo Pambianchi, all took part in the presentation event.

The sports facility, which has always been home to the women’s team and the men’s Primavera team, underwent a huge redesign and modernisation project. The stadium will now be able to host Women's Champions League matches after being upgraded to meet the requirements imposed by UEFA. The various works included installing a new lighting system, dividing the stands into sections and installing new seats, and building a media working area with a conference room, mixed zone and flash zone.

“We managed to break a bureaucratic deadlock that had been holding us back since 2018. We have kept our word to the fans. After a huge team effort, together with AS Roma and ATI Tre Fontane, we are ready to have the AS Roma girls play international competitions at home for the first time," said the Councillor for Major Events, Sport, Tourism and Fashion, Alessandro Onorato. "After reopening the Palatiziano, upgrading the Tre Fontane is another big achievement for our Sports Facilities Administration and demonstrates our enormous commitment to the world of sport.”

Elisabetta Bavagnoli, Head of Women’s Football, said: "The important milestone reached today is the result of the teamwork between AS Roma, the City of Rome and ATI Tre Fontane. What we are seeing is further confirmation of the constant investment in our women’s team by the Friedkin ownership. From today the Tre Fontane will allow fans to show their support in a more modern and welcoming environment, not only for women’s matches but also for men's Primavera games."

ATI Tre Fontane Presidente, Ugo Pambianchi, also shared his thoughts on the project. "It has been an arduous and difficult journey, but it is enormously rewarding. The works were completed in 35 days, a goal that once seemed impossible. This achievement was made possible thanks to a great team effort between the concessionaires, AS Roma, the Council, and the Department for Sport of the City of Rome, which gave us the best conditions to work in. With the completion of this phase, we are now 60% of the way through our project. There is still a physiotherapy centre, a multi-purpose indoor field and a new stand to be built. We are launching ourselves even further into the future. History tells the story of places, passions, and sports, but the future is built with skill, ideas, and facts.”
