Zalewski: We are focused on getting the win

Nicola Zalewski was the player chosen to face the media on Wednesday, to preview Roma's Europa League meeting with HJK Helsinki in Finland.

Here's what the Poland international had to say...

What do you think about the prospect of playing on an artificial pitch tomorrow?

“It's something new for us, we played on one twice last season against Bodo but it's not something that happens every Sunday.

"As the boss said, you could say it is like another sport - but we need to do everything in our power to win the match and take the three points. That's our target."

Could the weather conditions have an influence on the game tomorrow?

“We expected to find these sort of conditions here but I don't think it will have an impact. It won't influence the game but as I've just said we are only look to make sure we win the game."

How do you think the team have taken the defeat against Napoli at the weekend? And what difference does playing in a back four or with a back three make when it comes to your role on the flank?

“In terms of my role on the wing the difference is minimal, because as the wide player you need to get up and down the wing and help both defensively and in attack anyway.

"As for your other question, perhaps we are lucky we have the chance to play again almost straight away and forget about the defeat. In my opinion we did not deserve to lose. In the end the game was decided on fine margins - they took advantage of their openings in a way that we didn't quite manage to."

This season you perhaps haven't quite hit the form of last season - do you think a player like you should also be scoring more goals?

“Yes, I think as a team we need to create more in attack - but I'm pleased with what I've been doing alongside those around me to put the attacking players in a position to create good chances and score goals.

"Personally speaking the season started with a bit of bad luck, with a few injuries and things - like my illness on Sunday - but now I'm fine again and ready to go."

What are you expecting from Helsinki tomorrow?

“We've prepared for the game tomorrow with the utmost respect for our opposition, even if we have not had a lot of time to focus on things considering the game we just had on Sunday.

"We are a really good side, one capable of making it difficult for any side we face. And I think tomorrow we will achieve that."
