Club celebrates World Environment Day with series of initiatives supporting planet

To Celebrate World Environment Day the club is currently embarking on a series of initiatives strengthening its commitment to a more sustainable future.

To Celebrate World Environment Day, and to amplify the United Nation message encouraging worldwide awareness and actions to protect our planet, the club is currently embarking on a series of initiatives strengthening its commitment to a more sustainable future.

Over the past season, AS Roma has continuously increased its environmental and social engagements through a range of activities in the city of Rome, at the site of its home matches, the Stadio Olimpico, and, most recently, abroad in Tirana, Albania, during the days ahead of the UEFA Europa Conference League final.

Reiterating the WED message, '#OnlyOneEarth, Let's take care of it!', on Sunday, AS Roma supported the regional department for sports facilities and planning - Regione Lazio Ge.si.s – during the special event ‘Sport and Nature for Life’, which takes place at Dabliu Eur sports centre.

The event saw 30 local sports clubs taking part in activities designed to educate the younger generation about emerging environmental issues and best practices.

Believing in the power of actions, and in line with this year's theme of 'Living Sustainably In Harmony with Nature', the club has also spent the past weeks planting a range of olive trees at its Tre Fontane sports facility, supported by children from local sports clubs and AS Roma Soccer Schools.

This initiative builds on a partnership signed by the club with Roma Natura, the local government office responsible for protecting and preserving biodiversity within the region, in March.

As part of the program developed by the two organisations, a number of school children have also had the opportunity to take part in lessons and activities that explain biodiversity, ecotourism and other key environmental issues.

These lessons were all hosted by experts from Roma Natura and will continue for the next academic year.

The event in EUR was attended by Francesco Pastorella, the club’s Sustainability and Community Relations Department Director, and the President of Roma Natura, Maurizio Gubbiotti.
