Coach Marco Ciaralli's side drew 1-1 with Portland Timbers in their opening group stage game, with Mannini scoring a late equaliser after Enriquez had given the Oregon side a second half advantage.
The Timbers won the ensuing penalty shootout, earning two points for their efforts to the Giallorossi's one.
"We needed to approach the game in a different way to what we are used to," Ciaralli said afterwards.
"We went behind, then we managed to make some of the changes we needed to - and in the end anything can happen with penalties."
He added: "We've come here to learn things and that is absolutely what we are doing. There are lots of different ways to play this game and over time we will get better at that.
"For now, we need to get better at reading the different moments of the game and the different ways to respond."
The Under-17s are back in action on Monday as they face Sporting Kansas City in their second match.
