The Giallorosse, defending champions in the competition, knew a draw would be enough for them to progress from the round-robin phase of the competition - but even that result looked briefly in doubt after the hosts equalised midway through the second half.
After a spell of Pomigliano chances, however, Alessandro Spugna's side found their rhythm; as Vanessa Bernauer and substitute Valeria Pirone scored the decisive goals to send Roma through.
"We've achieved what we wanted to today," Spugna said. "It was never going to be a straightforward game and I think you saw that.
"We always had an element of control but we could have managed things better after they equalised - but then the girls did really well to adjust and eventually get things back on track.
"The subs that came on did well and that was another decisive element."
Midfielder Claudia Ciccotti had earlier given the visitors the lead in what was always a hard-fought contest - while recent signing Emilie Haavi also made a late appearance in the contest.
"It was important to get this result, especially being the defending champions," Ciccotti said.
"We are pleased to get the win and to finish off the year in the best way possible. It's been a good season so far ... we hope that in the New Year we can go on to achieve even better things."
Roma will now wait to see who they will have to face for a place in the semi-finals of this season's competition.
