International: Pirone off the mark for Italy in win

Valeria Pirone scored her first international goal as Italy beat Croatia 3-0 in their World Cup qualifier on Friday evening.

After coming on as a substitute Pirone went on and scored her first goal for the Azzurre after 64 minutes, in a game where Roma Women teammate Elena Linari started.

"It was a great feeling, I'm pleased with the win and the chance that I got today," Pirone said after the game.

"I will do everything I can to make it difficult for the coach to choose and that goes for my club side as well. I always want to make sure I am ready for anything.

"It's a long time since I played in a game as important as this and I'm pleased with how it went."

Lucia Di Guglielmo was the other Roma player to make an appearance during the game.
