    Mkhitaryan 'frustrated' after penalty controversy

Henrikh Mkhitaryan admitted there was a sour taste to Sunday's 1-0 defeat against Juventus in Turin.

Moise Kean scored the only goal of the game for the hosts at Juventus Stadium - although there was frustration for Roma, who thought Tammy Abraham had converted an equaliser only for the referee to have already whistled for a penalty.

Jordan Veretout's spot-kick was subsequently saved by Wojciech Szczesny, with the Giallorossi wondering if advantage could not have been played and Abraham's strike allowed to stand.

“Clearly we are frustrated,” Mkhitaryan said.

“The team played really well, we created a lot of chances to score. But we didn’t manage to make the most of them and finish things off. But, we are improving, and we’ll push forward and try and win the upcoming games.”

On the game’s major talking point, he added: “The only thing I will say is why could they not let the action play out and then whistle for the penalty?

“When it’s an offside call they can let the game continue and then call it back after five or six seconds. And that could have been what happened today as well.

“There’s not much more I can add than that – because everyone saw what happened in the end.”
