Zaniolo pleased with response to 'pressure' on him

Nicolo Zaniolo was on the scoresheet as Roma romped into the knockout phase of the Europa Conference League on Thursday night.

Restored to the starting line-up, Zaniolo scored the second goal of the game as the Giallorossi ran out 4-0 winners against Zorya Luhansk.

Here's what the Italy international had to say after the contest...

What did this performance mean for you, do you think?

"More than anything for me, it was about the team - it's an important victory. Because it was not straightforward to get through the group, given the situation we were in. So that's the most important thing tonight."

Did you enjoy playing in a slightly more advanced position?

"I can play there, I can play out wide, I can play anywhere in the attacking positions. The coach said I would be playing there and so I played there. I'm ready to do whatever is needed for the team."

Did being on the bench for two games make you think about things a bit?

"Of course. They are the decisions the coach made and accepted that. And when he called upon me today, then I did what I needed to do. I live for the pressure - I like to be under pressure [to perform] and I like to give my response out on the pitch."

What has Jose Mourinho taught you so far?

"To never get comfortable. After a good performance you always need to ask even more of yourself next time. We need to always improve and work hard on that."

Now you go to Sofia looking to clinch top spot in the group.

"Yes, but we play every game looking to win it - as if they were all finals. Today - as the coach already said - was a kind of final, and we are pleased to have secured the result we wanted."
