Giugliano believes PSG win will provide confidence boost

Manuela Giugliano was named Player of the Match as Roma Women beat Paris Saint-Germain in the AMOS Women's Cup on Wednesday evening.

Italy international Giugliano scored a fantastic goal after just two minutes in Toulouse to give the Giallorosse the lead against their highly-regarded opponents - as Annamaria Serturini's second half strike eventually helped clinch a 2-1 win for Alessandro Spugna's side.

Roma will now face Bayern Munich in Friday's final, after the German side won 4-2 against Lyon in the other semi-final.

"It was a really important game," Giugliano said.

"The club have enabled us to become a part of this great event and being able to play against sides of this quality is a great way of helping us understand where we are as a team."

She added: "Obviously we are all really pleased and satisfied with the win today, especially because we knew it was going to be an incredibly different game for us. But we got the result we wanted and that will be a big boost for us and help us as we continue on this path."

The tournament appears to be ideal preparation as the new Serie A campaign fast approaches.

"This is a key moment for us, we are preparing well for the season," Giugliano added.

"We know that we need to really work hard, all of us, because in the end it is that hard work that will enable us to achieve what we want further down the line."
