Tammy Abraham scored the only goal of the game - his third in Giallorossi colours - to decide the game, as he swept home Riccardo Calafiori’s incisive low cross.

The victory was somewhat marred late on, however, as Lorenzo Pellegrini picked up a second yellow card that means he will miss Sunday’s derby against Lazio.

Mourinho’s side will at least go into that game with positive momentum restored, a clean sheet to build upon and the knowledge they have already opened up a four-point lead on their cross-city rivals.
