Pellegrini proud of his side's response in thrilling comeback

Lorenzo Pellegrini felt his side had shown an important sign of their mental strength after beating Cagliari 2-1 on Wednesday night.

The Giallorossi came from behind to grab all three points at the Sardegna Arena, with Pellegrini deciding the game with a brilliant late free-kick.

Here's what the Roma captain had to say after the game...

What does this win mean for you?

"It's a really important win, as three points are in any game. We weren't in a good spot, despite a decent first half performance. In the second half we raised the intensity a bit and we got the rewards in the end."

What is this group capable of, do you think?

"What we are capable of is not something I can say - it's something that will be shown over time and with the results we get. But I can definitely say that this is not just a group, but a family.

"Every day we focus on getting better and getting more united as a team. I think you saw that today.

"We gave an important response to all the things that were said about us this week - we wanted to respond in the right way and we did. Against Napoli we played really well, I though, and today we took the three points like we knew we needed to."

    What about your goal, though!

"I've still got a bit of catching up to do, maybe. Everyone tells me that I can't take free-kicks. I will continue to work on them, improve at them, just as we all do in this group. Sooner or later we will achieve what we are trying to do."
