The Giallorosse picked up all three points on the opening day of the league campaign for the first time in their history - although it came in strange fashion, as three own goals from the hosts condemned them to defeat.
That is not to say Alessandro Spugna's side were not good value for their win, however: with Benedetta Glionna responsible for two of those own goals with her driving runs and dangerous delivery into the box.
The opening goal of the game, meanwhile, came after Annamaria Serturini looked to be on the verge of steering home from eight yards out.
"The main thing was to start the season well and we've done that," Spugna said.
"The girls did great, they immediately imposed themselves on the game. We could have perhaps taken advantage a bit more in the first half - but, nevertheless, it went well today."
If there was one setback for the side over the course of the 90 minutes it was the late red card for Elena Linari, after she brought down Empoli forward Chante Dompig.
Yet, even despite that, Camelia Ceasar was on hand to ensure Roma kept a clean sheet and picked up a first three points of the season.
"We've been able to start the season well and that's important," Glionna said afterwards.
"It was a bit of a weird game given the three goals were own goals, but I'm pleased to have been able to play my part in those girls and hopefully we can build on that in the future."
