Nineteen-year-old Ebrima Darboe made his debut for the club during the game at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, becoming the latest Primavera graduate to reach the first team when he replaced Gonzalo Villar in midfield for the final 10 minutes.
Darboe's story is particularly notable. Born in Gambia on 6 June 2001, he arrived in Italy alone and was assisted by the SPRAR project (Protection System for Refugees and Asylum Seekers), who assisted him as he was eventually assigned a social work by the courts.
Having begun playing football at the junior club Young Rieti, he was eventually spotted by Roma scouts and impressed in a subsequent trial. He made his debut for the Primavera in 2019 and signed a professional contract soon after.
Since his first call-up to the first team squad later in 2019 he has regularly moved between the two groups. This season he has made 18 appearances for Alberto De Rossi's Under-19 side, scoring five goals.
