Atalanta 4-1 Roma: Beaten in Bergamo

An early Edin Dzeko goal was not enough for Roma as they fell to an eventual 4-1 defeat against Atalanta on Sunday.

Dzeko moved out into third alone atop the club's all-time goalscorer's chart with a smart early finish - but the hosts roared back in the second half, as Duvan Zapata, Robin Gosens, Luis Muriel and Josep Ilicic all got on the scoresheet.

After taking the lead the Giallorossi had a number of chances to extend their advantage; Leonardo Spinazzola hit the post from distance, while Pierluigi Gollini denied both Lorenzo Pellegrini and Jordan Veretout with smart stops.

Paulo Fonseca's side have one more game before the winter break, as they host Cagliari at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday evening.
