Roma travel to Udinese on Saturday, with Paulo Fonseca’s men in search of a first win of the 2020-21 Serie A campaign.

Here’s how the rest of Matchday 3 looks this weekend…

FRIDAY 2 OCTOBER

Fiorentina v Sampdoria
Artemio Franchi, 20:45 CEST

Two late Inter goals saw Fiorentina let a 3-2 lead slip in a dramatic 4-3 loss on Saturday, but Federico Chiesa’s first goal of the season and Gaetano Castrovilli’s second in succession were encouraging for a side that did the double over Sampdoria last season.

Sampdoria have not beaten Fiorentina in any of their last four attempts and threw away a two-goal lead of their own to lose 3-2 at home to newly promoted Benevento last time out, meaning they’ve conceded three times in each of their two losses so far.

SATURDAY 3 OCTOBER

Sassuolo v Crotone
Mapei Stadium, 15:00 CEST

Having drawn their opener with Cagliari, Sassuolo put four past Spezia last weekend - courtesy of a quartet of different scorers - to continue a promising unbeaten start to the campaign.

Crotone, meanwhile, are yet to secure a point in 2020-21 and prop up the table after back-to-back losses - but should welcome sole goalscorer Emmanuel Riviere back into the starting lineup after being an unused substitute in Sunday’s defeat to AC Milan.

Genoa v Torino
Luigi Ferraris, 18:00 CEST

Having sat top at the end of the opening round of fixtures, Genoa were brought crashing back down to earth with a 6-0 mauling at Napoli on Sunday and they have a long injury list that includes captain Domenico Criscito and goalkeeper Mattia Perin.

Torino are one of four teams that have lost two from two of the new season, but they’ve beaten Genoa in each of their last five meetings and haven’t conceded in any of the last three fixtures between the two.

Udinese v Roma
Dacia Arena, 20:45 CEST

Udinese made history as the first side to lose a Serie A fixture to Spezia in midweek, meaning they have lost both of their opening two games without scoring a single goal.

Roma came agonisingly close to beating champions Juve, but eventually took a point from their first home outing and they will be aiming to take all three points back to the capital against a side they’ve beaten seven times in the last eight as the away team.

SUNDAY 4 OCTOBER

Atalanta v Cagliari
Gewiss Stadium, 12:30 CEST

Having got up and running with a 4-2 win at Torino - with key men Papu Gomez and Luis Muriel both on the scoresheet - Atalanta then brushed aside Lazio with another four goals on Wednesday night to maintain their perfect start to the season, with skipper Gomez at the double this time.

Cagliari may have lost to Lazio on Matchday 2, but they have claimed victory on all of their past three trips to the Gewiss Stadium - scoring five goals and conceding just once in the process.

Benevento v Bologna
Ciro Vigorito, 15:00 CEST

Last season’s Serie B champions were humbled 5-2 by Inter Milan midweek, but they’ve scored five goals in two outings and will be buoyed by Gianluca Caprari’s brace against Inter - his first goals for the club since joining on-loan from Parma in the summer.

Bologna were also in the goals on Monday night as they saw off Parma 4-1 and they have won both of the previous two meetings between these two sides in their history - back in the 2017-18 Serie A season - without conceding a single goal.

Lazio v Inter Milan
Stadio Olimpico, 15:00 CEST

Lazio followed up their opening win over Cagliari with a lacklustre 4-1 drubbing at home to Atalanta and have lost three of the last four with Inter as guests.

There have been a total of 14 goals across Inter’s two-game 100 per cent start to the season, with Romelu Lukaku (three) and Lautaro Martinez (two) scoring in both games and they will hope the imminent returns from injury of Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar will shore up their so far porous defence.

Parma v Hellas Verona
Ennio Tardini, 15:00 CEST

Parma’s start has been an inauspicious one - conceding six, scoring once and earning zero points - and they haven’t beaten Verona in four attempts, a run that dates back to their 2-0 home win this time six years ago.

Substitute Andrea Favilli scored the only goal of the game in Verona’s 1-0 win over Udinese on Sunday and the 23-year-old will be pushing for a start after bagging his maiden strike for the Venetians.

AC Milan v Spezia
Giuseppe Meazza, 18:00 CEST

Milan have begun the 2019-20 league season with a brace of 2-0 wins, with Brahim Diaz score on his first start against Crotone, but lost Ante Rebic to injury in that victory, saw Lucas Paqueta leave the club on Wednesday and they have a trip to Portugal for their Europa League qualifier against Rio Ave to navigate on Thursday.

As for Spezia, they secured an historic first Serie A win in the club’s history by beating Udinese 2-0 this week and despite injury to summer arrival Jeroen Zoet, they will be hoping Andrej Galabinov - who scored all three of their top-flight goals - can ease the loss of their goalkeeper by firing them forward at the other end.

Juventus v Napoli
Allianz Stadium, 20:45 CEST

A Cristiano Ronaldo double salvaged a point at Roma on Sunday night as Juve conceded their first goals of the season against the Giallorossi and they are still without injured trio Federico Bernardeschi, Matthijs de Ligt and Alex Sandro.

Napoli moved top by hitting Genoa for six and have scored eight without reply in their two matches, but are expected to be without captain Lorenzo Insigne against a side they’ve beaten twice on the spin - including last season’s Coppa Italia final victory.
