Mayoral: Perfect night for me and the team

Mayoral scored twice in the emphatic Europa League victory over Cluj, which eventually finished 5-0 at the Stadio Olimpico.

“I’ve been dreaming of a night like this one,” the Spaniard said.

“My first goals at the Olimpico – I’m delighted personally but, naturally, delighted at the performance of the whole team too.”

Have you felt the backing of the coach during recent weeks?

“Not just in recent weeks. Before I came to Roma I spoke to the boss and he made his faith in me clear – he told me that he wanted me in his squad. I always felt like he backed me. He’s picked me in the Europa League so far. Obviously I will need a little bit of time to completely settle in.”
