What can you tell the readers about yourself, and your role with Roma Club Shanghai?

Hou Zhenyu: "My name is Hou Zhenyu. I have three antique shops in Shanghai. I’m 36 and have been a die-hard Roma supporter for 24 years. I’m also the co-founder of Roma Club Shanghai, and currently serve as the vice president."

When was Roma Club Shanghai formed, and what was the idea behind setting up the club?

"Roma Club Shanghai was formed in 2018. The idea was simply to bring every Roma fan currently living, working, or studying in Shanghai together. We use the power of social media to attract fans, and we have more than 100 members now. I’m happy to find so many like-minded friends, or I shall say, brothers and sisters."

What does a normal matchday look like for members of Roma Club Shanghai?

"We watch all matches together in a sports bar, and cheer for our beloved Giallorossi. Additionally, we have an active group chat group to discuss the match."

Have any members of Roma Club Shanghai been to a match?

"Yes, some of our members have been to Stadio Olimpico in recent years. We were actually planning to visit Rome this May, but the pandemic spoiled our trip. I hope we can visit The Eternal City, and watch a match in person as soon as possible. It's a dream for every member of Roma Club Shanghai."

"Love and passion. We all love this club and this city. If you feel the same, you are more than welcome to join our family. We share the same emotion and always support each other."

Can you describe the football culture in China, and how it has influenced Roma Club Shanghai?

"We have a very good football culture in China, and specifically Shanghai. There are two Chinese Super League clubs in Shanghai. Additionally, we consume a lot of European football, specifically the top five leagues. Numerous fans follow clubs in Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1. Out of all the leagues, Serie A fans in Shanghai are by far the most passionate."

What is your favourite moment since Roma Club Shanghai was formed?

"The night when we beat Barcelona. Nobody believed that we could do it, but we persevered and came out victorious. We are true wolves and we fight until the last second. I can still feel the excitement and emotions running through my veins."

If you could meet one person related to Roma, past or present, who would you choose and why?

"I would choose Daniele De Rossi, because my English name is also Daniele.... just kidding! The loyalty and sense of responsibility that he showed in his entire career was priceless. He is a true model for every person and Roma player."

What does it mean to be a part of the Roma family?

"As a member of Roma Club Shanghai, we are connected from heart to heart - no matter which language you speak, which country you live in, or the colour of your skin. We are all together because of our love for AS Roma is the same. That makes me and us stronger than ever."
