Roma Women 1-1 Florentia: Serturini strike not enough

Roma Women were held to a 1-1 draw at Stadio Tre Fontane on Sunday afternoon.

The Giallorosse, looking to finish off their final home game of the calendar year in style, took the lead through Annamaria Serturini - but were eventually pegged back with 15 minutes remaining as Melania Martinovic turned home from close range.

Betty Bavagnoli's side suffered another frustrating day in front of goal, despite creating countless opportunities. Serturini converted one but saw other chances go abegging, while Paloma Lazaro was also thwarted on a number of occasions.

In the dying moments, as Roma searched for a winner, Alice Corelli agonisingly saw one effort bounce away off the post - and then she flashed inches wide with the very last kick of the game.

“I think we could have scored six today,” Bavagnoli said. “It’s hard for me to discuss, I’m frustrated.

“The girls created so many chances, but the weakness we tried to work on is clearly still there.

“It’s not enough to score once and if we are happy with that, without continuing to push for me, we’ll never take that next step.”
