Kumbulla: I gambled and it paid off

A goal for the second game in a row – are you making it a habit?

“The balls into the box are often dangerous – sometimes it can be quite easy to score from corners. I thought that the ball might reach the back post and in the end it worked out really well for me.”

What point are you in your development?

“I think I can still improve in every area – and improve a lot too. I made a mistake that I could have avoided for Ibrahimovic’s first goal, but in the end we bounced back and I was able to make up for it by scoring a goal.”

Have you always had a goalscoring touch?

“I’ve always played in central defence, but I think I’ve always scored the occasional goal. It’s not my main attribute and it never has been, but recently it’s been going okay.”

How do you reflect on the last 12 months for you?

“Verona immediately showed such confidence in me, from the start of pre-season [last season]. I think that I have improved a lot in a year, simply by playing regular in Serie A. Now I want to help Roma and do the best I can.”
