The Brazilian defender is in training again with his teammates following the long lockdown period in Italy, as players build up to the restart of Serie A.

A self-confessed film fan, Jesus particularly loves superhero films.

“I like to go to the cinema," Jesus said.

"When I was younger I wasn’t able to go that often – but I remember the first film I saw. It was Spiderman, when I was 11.

“When my wife and I arrived in Italy we used to go to the cinema a lot, because it was a good way for us to improve our Italian. Now we have a son we go more often, to watch family films. And of course, there are so many more options nowadays to watch films at home too.”

Here are the films he reckons are worth watching during the current lockdown...

I Am Legend

“I watched this at the cinema when it came out in 2007. It’s a brilliantly made film, with an incredible actor like Will Smith. The story echoes a little bit of what we are going through right now – with a catastrophic pandemic around the world.

"In the film only a few have survived and the infected have become zombies, zombies that he has to fight on his own.”

Black Panther

“This is one of my favourite superheroes, also because he's a black superhero. After so many years where all the superheroes were white men there was a bit of a change in representation, and Black Panther is a great example of that.”

The Equalizer

“The main character is Denzel Washington, one of my favourite actors. He plays a retired special agent who, after faking his own death, tries to live a quiet, normal life. Then, in helping a young girl who is being mistreated, he shows off his unexpected fighting abilities. It’s a great film – as is the sequel.”

Avengers: Endgame

“Everyone knows that I’m a big fan of The Avengers – I have all the action figures of the different characters, even those of the bad guys. The only one I’m missing right now is Captain Marvel.

"I really like this film for the special effects, for the drama that builds and because it’s the last in the saga – it builds off everything before it and it’s important you have seen the other films first, like I have.”

Spider-Man 2

“This film is from 2004, I was very young when I saw it – but it made a big impression on me. In this one the enemy is Doctor Octopus, who starts off as someone that Peter Parker trusts but then as things go on they confront each other.

"I also like this one because, in my opinion, Tobey Maguire is the best Spiderman there has been.”
