Making just his second start for the club, Villar looked comfortable and composed in midfield at Juventus Stadium - as the Giallorossi ran out 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Nikola Kalinic and Diego Perotti (two).
“I’m really pleased with the game today," Villar said.
"I hope to keep going like this and to help the team keep winning like we did today."
You showed your ability to keep the ball under pressure – is that your best attribute?
“That’s why I came here. When the coach called me he told me that is what he liked about the way I play, and what he wanted in his squad.”
Do you feel ready to compete for a starting spot in the Europa League?
“I’ve played today and I always train with the aim of making it difficult for the coach to choose who to pick. I always want him to think that Villar trained well. I think I’ve shown that I’m mentally tough enough to cope in the opportunities I have had, and I’m pleased with the opportunity I got today.”
Where do you need to improve?
“I need to improve defensively, and also physically as well. We are working hard with the nutritionist and all the staff. They are really helping me and I think we are on the right path.”
Do you like to ask for the ball even when you are being tightly marked? Do you feel your teammates have confidence in you?
“My teammates show the faith they have in me when they give me the ball even though I am being pressed – and I really appreciate that. I like playing under pressure from the opposition and I’m happy the coach and my teammates have faith in me to do that.”
