Bavagnoli pleased with pre-season preparations so far

Roma Women boss Betty Bavagnoli believes her side have started pre-season in the right way, as they look to make another step forward this season.

Heading into their third campaign as a club, the Giallorosse ramped up their preparations for 2020-21 on Wednesday afternoon with a 4-0 win over fellow Serie A side Florentia Sangimignano.

Speaking to Roma TV after the game, Bavagnoli gave her assessment of the progress that has been made since all the girls returned for pre-season - and how the side is doing with just over three weeks until the new season gets underway.

"Considering it was the first game, after 20 training sessions, I'm pleased," she said.

"We need to keep improving, it was our first game out there on a full pitch for a while and I am happy to have seen a few young players go out there and show some potential. We need to keep working hard now to make sure we are fully fit when the season starts."

    How are preparations going?

"We still have 25 days until the season gets underway and I would say we are on the right track. We have put in a lot of fitness work but there is still work to do on that - then we can start to think about adding other things. We have other friendlies to play and I'm happy that will pose us a few different challenges."

What do you want to see from the next few friendlies?

"In terms of our style of play we still need to improve, but I saw some promising signs today. Clearly we haven't had much continuity recently, and will need to go into more detail about some of the tactical elements we want to implement - but that will all come once fitness levels are up to where they need to be."
