Fonseca: We head to Turin in high spirits

The boss gives a few updates ahead of Wednesday's game against Torino...

Paulo Fonseca believes his side will travel to Turin with their minds focused on the job they need to do, ahead of two important games to finish off their Serie A campaign.

The Giallorossi face Torino on Wednesday evening knowing a win will be enough for them to clinch fifth spot in the league standings.

They then close the season against Juventus on Saturday night - after which attention will turn to the conclusion of the Europa League.

Here's what the boss had to say...

The game against Fiorentina was a draining one, you had to fight until the very end in order to find that winning goal. How are the players now?

“The players are all focused; they are a bit tired, it’s true, but Torino is an important game for us and we will go there in good form and good spirits. When you win you always train well afterwards.”

You will go to Turin without Lorenzo Pellegrini – how is he?

“He had to undergo surgery and he won’t be able to train with the team for the next few days. We will have to see how his recovery goes.”

Who will play in his spot behind the striker?

“We will see tomorrow – I still have to make that decision. I will have a better idea after training later.”

Is the game also a chance to rest a few a players, or do you want to avoid changes like in the last few games?

“I don’t think I’ll make many changes – it’s another important game and I don’t want to change a lot.”

Torino are safe from relegation, they have a new coach compared to the last meeting – what are the dangers for Roma?

“It will be a tough game, against a side that are always really good at home. There is no pressure on them and that also makes things harder for us. They are very strong defensively, but we are really focused and determined and we want to make sure we win.”
