Pellegrini: The season needs to restart, for all those who work in the game

Posting on social media on Friday morning, Pellegrini expressed his belief that - as long as safety and security conditions are implemented to the highest possible standards - it is vitally important that football in Italy resumes as soon as possible.

“Our desire is to return to action, the conditions are in place to train safely at the training centre and we all hope we can do so as soon as possible,” Pellegrini said.

“We can only hope that the Serie A campaign returns, in the safest conditions possible, not just for sporting reasons – but also to avoid the devastating economic consequences that the thousands of people who work in the sport, and their families, would then face.”
