Perez elated to get off the mark in Serie A

Perez, a January signing from Barcelona, lashed home from inside the box just before half-time to give his side a 2-1 advantage - setting the stage for a dominant, four-goal second half display.

“I’m very happy, finally I’ve got my first goal in Serie A,” Perez said.

“In the last few games I’ve been a bit unlucky on a few different occasions, but now I’ve got one and that’s great for my confidence."

Playing regularly will only help you settle. How do you feel right now?

“The more I play the more I will feel good. I am adjusting to this role all the time, trying to do what the coach wants of me and making sure I’m available whenever he calls on me. I think that, from the first game to now, you can see the improvements.”

How do you feel playing behind the striker like you did today?

“It’s a position I’ve never played before, but I like it and I think I’m starting to produce more and more from the position.

"I have a lot of freedom to move and I’m moving inside onto my preferred foot, so it gives me a few more opportunities to get shots off on goal and provide assists."

Congratulations on your goal – what a hit. What differences are you finding between Serie A and La Liga?

“I really did hit it – I really wanted to celebrate a goal today! There are some differences between the two leagues; I think Italian sides defend a bit better and there is less time to think about your next move, but I’m adjusting all the time and I’m pleased with how things are going.”
