    Dzeko pleased with confidence-boosting win

Edin Dzeko believes Roma will take a lot of confidence from Sunday's 4-0 victory over Lecce, arresting the slide of the last few weeks.

Dzeko scored the third goal of the night at the Olimpico - drawing him level with Vincenzo Montella in the club's all-time scoring charts in the process - as the Giallorossi romped to a first Serie A victory in over a month.

Cengiz Under, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Aleksandar Kolarov grabbed the other goals, as Paulo Fonseca's side put in an impressive overall display.

“Right from the start we played well," Dzeko said.

"We went out there knowing that we had to win today, after a while without one in the league. We created a lot of chances and, above all, we didn’t concede a goal – and that will give us a lot of confidence."

You are in fine form at the moment…

“When you are losing you don’t feel good, regardless. I feel sharp, on Thursday I was a bit tired but today I felt better. These two wins will give us a boost going into the next few games, which is always important.

"I like to play in this setup, helping my teammates out. We are pleased tonight, and we look forward with our heads up.”

Was Thursday’s victory enough to change things around?

“We’ve really been working hard, recently we’ve been losing the ball too much. Every win is a boost; on Thursday we didn’t play great but it still gave us some confidence to win. The mental side is always important and I hope that from now on things go better and better."

You made a potentially tricky game look easy, thanks to the spirit you showed

“Yes, that’s perhaps something that has been lacking a bit recently. The coach always says that if we lose the ball, we have to immediately press hard to win it back. Today we did that well, but we know we can always improve too.”
