Alberto De Rossi's side, looking to overcome a 2-0 first leg deficit, came from behind to win 3-1 in front of their fans - ultimately exiting the competition on away goals.
After going behind midway through the first half, the Under-19s knew they needed to score four times to have any hope of reaching the final. Alessio Riccardi's equaliser on the stroke of half-time - the midfielder converting the rebound after his penalty was saved - at least made that possible.
Two rapid second half strikes from Ludovico D'Orazio and Riccardo Calafiori set up a dramatic final 30 minutes but, despite having the momentum behind them, a decisive fourth goal eluded the team.
Striker Felipe Estrella was sent off in the closing stages.
