The Giallorossi came from behind to secure a 3-1 win against the struggling visitors - with Perotti converting the vital second half penalty to put Paulo Fonseca's side back in front.
Lorenzo Pellegrini had earlier cancelled out Andrea Petagna's opener from distance, while substitute Henrikh Mkhitaryan killed off the contest in the closing stages.
“We stayed patient, we managed the match well,” Perotti said.
“It wasn’t easy after the draw on Thursday. Coming back out in the second half when you are behind is not easy. In the dressing room we told ourselves that we couldn’t let what happened against Wolfsberg happen again.
"In the first half we played well too, even if we didn’t find a goal. But after the break we got the breakthrough and it’s a vital win for us.”
Have you opened up a decisive gap on Napoli and Milan?
“It’s another big three points. We knew the results of the other games but the main thing was to turn the page after the game on Thursday. We know that this is who we really are.
"We demonstrated we have the courage and desire to aim high. If we play like this regularly then we can dream.”
Will you teach a class on taking penalties?
“I still don’t know what I’m going to do when I retire, so perhaps that could be an idea! I’m pleased to score, and to help my teammates. It was an important penalty because we were still level [at the time]. I’m really pleased, both for me and especially for my teammates.”
