Roma Women defender Federica Di Criscio underwent surgery on her knee on Monday afternoon.
Di Criscio, 26, suffered the injury during Sunday's 4-1 win over Inter Milan.
Operating on her right knee, surgeons reconstructed her anterior cruciate ligament and also repaired her external meniscus.
Di Criscio was subsequently visited in hospital by a number of her teammates. She will begin the rehabilitation process in due course.
