Bavagnoli congratulates Sinclair on world record

Roma Women coach Betty Bavagnoli has congratulated Christine Sinclair on becoming football's all-time leading goalscorer in international football.

Canada captain Sinclair, 36, scored twice against St Kitts & Nevis on Wednesday evening to reach 185 goals in international football - and overtake United States forward Abby Wambach in the all-time standings.

Bavagnoli, who coached Sinclair at international level as assistant Carolina Morace between 2009 and 2011, was quick to send her congratulations to her former player.

"I had the pleasure to train an incredible player like Christine - who was, is, and will always remain one of the greatest players in the world," Bavagnoli said.

"It doesn't surprise me that she has reached this record; beyond her incredible quality as a goalscorer, she always was an impressive professional.

"I'm delighted for her, and I hope there are plenty more successes for her in the future too."
