Verona 1-3 Roma: Mkhitaryan clinches it late on

Roma made it three wins on the spin since the end of the international break with a hard-fought 3-1 win over Hellas Verona on Sunday evening.

Substitute Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored in injury time to seal the three points at the Stadio Bentegodi, in a game that had more than its fair share of intrigue and drama.

Justin Kluivert opened the scoring for the Giallorossi inside the first half, only for Verona captain Davide Faraoni to soon cancel it out.

A Diego Perotti penalty then restored Roma's lead just before the break - but only after Faraoni had seen another goal disallowed.

In the second half Verona pushed and probed for an equaliser, on what was a difficult evening's work for the visitors.

But they held firm and held strong, and were rewarded in injury-time when Perotti was able to pick out the right pass for Mkhitaryan to slot home.

Having won three games in the last eight days - and scored nine goals in the process - Paulo Fonseca's side now go into next Friday's game against league leaders Inter Milan in good form and good spirits.
