Zaniolo: I hope to give the fans plenty more reasons to celebrate

After scoring the match-winning goal against Milan, Nicolò Zaniolo provided his initial thoughts on the victory...

“We’re really happy with the three points. It was vital that we got a win after a series of draws. We were very good both defensively and offensively today.”

How much is this team improving?

“A lot, in terms of never giving up and always tracking our men, which is what the coach asks of us. Then we have the quality to win games.”

You took your goal very coolly…

“I kept looking at the goalkeeper until the last moment and sent him the wrong way. He saved my second chance, but sometimes you score, other times you miss – what counts is winning.”

In which position do you feel most comfortable?

“I feel good wherever the coach tells me to play. I give everything for this wonderful club and for the fans, who are always behind us. I’m not thinking about myself but about the group.”

You seem to have a real bond with the Olimpico…

“The fans are amazing. They’re always there and I want to thank them for all the applause they give me every week, even when I don’t play so well. I’m grateful and I hope to give them plenty more to celebrate.”

This win sends out a big message in terms of the league and the race for Champions League qualification…

“We’re always thinking about winning, then if you don’t manage it it’s important to give your all. Now we hope to win in Udine and in every other game.”
