Pellegrini: We really fight for each other now

Lorenzo Pellegrini was once again one of the most influential performers, as Roma continued their winning run with a 3-1 victory at Hellas Verona on Sunday.

A spectacular left-footed assist from the midfielder opened up the match for the Giallorossi, allowing Justin Kluivert to score the game's first goal.

Diego Perotti (from the penalty spot) and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (in injury time) then wrapped up the victory for Paulo Fonseca's side.

Here's what Pellegrini had to say afterwards...

Your seventh assist of the season today, this time with the left foot…

“I still haven’t seen it back again yet. It was something we had worked on during the week. They like to play man-to-man and we had really prepared on attacking from deep like that. Justin did really well with it too, it’s not easy to score from that angle.”

A tough win, but a deserved one.

“I really have to congratulate Verona. They are organised, they play good football, with intensity. They made it difficult for us but we were able to react and ultimately win the game. That’s what we wanted.”

The only thing missing for you now is a goal...

“I’m really trying to get them. Providing assists is great but scoring would really make me happy. Today I had a good chance from Kolarov’s pass, but I mishit it too much. I could have done better with it.”

Your position can change a bit depending on the opponent, it seems…

“Yes, the boss asks me to think about creating solutions with teammates when we are pressed, and how we can move to create different passing lines. I tend to drift to the right and he allows that, I like to have that freedom of movement.

“Every game we prepare for in a different way. We are adaptable but the main thing is this is really a great group, I will give everything for my teammates and I can see that they will give everything for me. It’s something that maybe we were lacking a bit in other years.”
