Cristante frustrated after draw

Michael Liendl’s second-half rocket cancelled out Leonardo Spinazzola’s opener, on a somewhat frustrating night at the Stadion Liebenau in Graz.

“They are a good side but we knew that already,” Cristante said.

“They pressed high, they were aggressive and they knew how to make the most of the ball – especially on the counter-attack. We played well, we did not make the most of a few openings and in the end it finished in a draw.”

What was lacking?

“We needed to do better at capitalising on the chances we created, and we needed to be better at stopping their counter. Sometimes away games against sides like this can finish in a draw.”

Further evidence you cannot underestimate anyone in Europe…

“Yes, but we didn’t need this game to remind us of that. In European every side is good and all the games are difficult.”
