The Azzurre face Malta on Friday evening, before hosting Bosnia & Herzegovina in Palermo on Tuesday.
"We know that the matches against Malta and Bosnia are both vital," Serturini said.
"We need to make sure we take the six points to make it clear that we are making progress. We've worked hard in training, there's a good spirit within the group.
"We are always trying to get better and work as hard as we can."
The international games mean there is a break in Serie A action - with teams returning for the third round of fixtures next weekend.
"This year the league is even stronger and more competitive than it was last season," Serturini said.
"Some top players have come to Italy and that's raised the level. The best side will win."
