The Giallorossi romped to victory at the Stadio Olimpico thanks to goals from Edin Dzeko, Zaniolo and Justin Kluivert - after Junior Caicara's own goal had broken the deadlock on the stroke of half-time.
Zaniolo also provided the assist for Dzeko's goal - making it the first game of his professional career with both a goal and an assist - as he lit up the contest.
You scored exactly a year on from your debut at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid.
“I’m very happy with what I’m doing and producing out on the pitch. I need to keep going. I’m especially pleased tonight because the team got the win. Now we need to go to Bologna and win there as well.”
With Dzeko there is a real understanding developing…
“Yes, Edin is a top player. It’s enough for me to call for the ball and he puts it at my feet. I’m pleased to play with him and take advantage of what he does out on the pitch.”
What has changed for you? You’ve come back this season aggressive and clinical.
“The main thing is the training, day after day, with consistency. I need to keep going down this path to go and achieve even more.”
Do you enjoy playing in Fonseca’s attacking style?
“We try to play in an attacking fashion, but it’s defensive at the same time – because you need to mark and press high up the pitch. The coach wants that, we are doing it, and we have to keep it up.”
Has something changed mentally for you too?
“I’m doing well. We are scoring goals but we need to be good at not conceding them too. Let’s keep it up.”
