Baldissoni: Generation Amazing partnership will help Roma do more good globally

AS Roma vice president Mauro Baldissoni believes the club’s new partnership with Generation Amazing will enable the Giallorossi to expand its ‘football for good’ initiatives into new territories

The Serie A club announced on Sunday that it had entered into a four-year strategic global partnership with Generation Amazing, with the aim of promoting invaluable life skills to those most in need through the power of football.

“In today’s world, the choice of a commercial partner is about more than just the space on the front of the shirt,” said Baldissoni, moments after signing the partnership agreement at Stadio Olimpico on Sunday. “For us it is very important, because we are putting a logo alongside the Roma badge, with everything that stands for and represents.

“It’s a decision taken with great care, and we are absolutely delighted to have reached it with one of the most important organisations in Qatar, a country that truly understands the responsibility that comes with getting involved in football – as is clear from the initiative that we are announcing.

“The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy in Qatar, while presenting its bid to host the next World Cup, launched this initiative to use football as an instrument for development, to help the next generation in disadvantaged places and wherever they need help and support. Those are values that align perfectly with our own aims, our own ambitions.

“Roma too launched its own foundation, Rome Cares, with similar objectives and a focus on our local communities. This partnership is therefore an incredible opportunity to unite projects and to grow our own efforts around the world, not just within Rome.

“As I have said many times, Roma is not just a football team – it’s a platform for social good too. Football’s power is incredible, unifying, and there is a huge interest in the game that allows us to spread positive messages and bring momentum to projects that need it, as they support the next generation.

“Youngsters play sport, and football is the most loved sport in the world. We grow through sport, we grow through football, and so football needs to help those kids who need assistance the most. In our own little way, we are trying to do that and we are grateful to Generation Amazing for allowing us to do that on a grander scale.”
