Stat Attack: 10 facts to know ahead of Fiorentina meeting

Ahead of Wednesday's game at the Stadio Olimpico, here are few key facts and figures to know about the two teams...

The match gets underway at 21:00 local time.

    The record in the league

Wednesday's game will be the 163rd meeting between the two sides in the Italian top flight. To date, Roma have won 53 of the meetings to Fiorentina's 50 - with 59 draws. Roma have scored 203 goals across the 162 meetings up until this point, with Fiorentina notching 197 times.

    The last two league meetings

Roma have not won against Fiorentina in the last two meetings between the sides in Serie A - with one draw and one defeat. Not since April 2012 have the Giallorossi gone three games against Fiorentina without winning.

    Travel troubles for Fiorentina

Fiorentina have lost their last two away games in Serie A - not since December 2016 have they lost three in a row. On that occasion the streak was confirmed at the Olimpico, albeit against Lazio.

    Fiorentina loving a draw

Fiorentina have already drawn 14 games in Serie A this season - not since the 1970-71 campaign have La Viola drawn more games (18 on that occasion) after 29 matches of the campaign.

    Dzeko and la Viola

Edin Dzeko has now gone 11 home games without scoring in Serie A - his own personal worst streak in one of Europe's top five leagues. Against Fiorentina, however, he has previously scored a brace at home against the side - albeit back in February 2017.

    Ranieri's record with Fiorentina

Claudio Ranieri has faced Fiorentina 15 times as a coach during his career - with eight wins to his name so far (four draws, three defeats).

The first of those meetings came in 1990, while the most recent came back in December 2011 - as 2-0 win while he was Inter coach. As Roma boss he won all three games he oversaw against Fiorentina - the scorelines reading 3-1, 1-0 (in Florence) and 3-2.

    Ranieri versus Pioli

Wednesday's coaches have only met twice to date - with a draw and a win for Pioli the record so far. The first meeting saw Ranieri coaching the Giallorossi, with the draw (2-2) coming when Pioli was at Chievo. Pioli then enjoyed victory (3-0) as Bologna boss, with Ranieri in the Inter dugout.

    Pioli against AS Roma

Pioli has faced Roma 20 times as a coach - winning on just three occasions and losing 11. Having said that, the last meeting came in January in the Coppa Italia, when Fiorentina ran out emphatic winners.

Pioli has faced Roma while managing Parma, Chievo, Bologna, Lazio, Inter and Fiorentina.

Ranieri and Pioli know each other well

The two coaches actually go way back - with Ranieri coaching Pioli as a player at Fiorentina during the 1993-94 season, the two working together to help get La Viola promoted back to Serie A for the following season. Pioli has always reflected on the two seasons they worked together as having a formulative impact on his own coaching ethos.

    Dangerman Muriel

Luis Muriel has scored six goals against Roma during his career - making them his preferred opponent in Serie A. They are also the side against whom the Colombian notched his only Serie A game with two assists in his career - when Sampdoria beat the Giallorossi 3-2 in January 2017.
