Kluivert confident he still has a lot more to offer

Justin Kluivert believes he is gradually starting to adjust to life in Italy, after he provided his eighth assist of the season during Roma’s 3-0 win over Cagliari.

Kluivert’s pass for Javier Pastore’s strike – giving the Giallorossi a 2-0 lead after just 10 minutes – saw him add another assist to his collection for the season, as he went on to impress with his all-round performance.

Enjoying a regular run of playing time in the team under new coach Claudio Ranieri, the Dutchman believes he is finally starting to adjust to life in Serie A.

“I did my job well today. I showed a little bit of what I can do,” Kluivert said.

“I feel like I’ve improved. I feel like I am growing into this life and this football. I’m feeling more comfortable. But I’m still learning every day.

“If I am enjoying it, if I am not thinking too much about everything, then that is when I am at my best. That’s what I did at Ajax. But I am still learning every day. Everything is different here. But when I stay myself that’s when I get the best out of myself, and that’s what I want to do.”

Saturday’s victory means Roma remain well in the hunt for a top-four finish in Serie A, and qualification for next season’s Champions League. The performance was also the best the side has played since Ranieri came in as the new boss.

“I think our chances of reaching the Champions League are good, we can do it – but we have to focus on ourselves,” Kluivert said.

“We have to win all the games we can, give 100% for that, and then see where we end up. But I’m confident.”

On Ranieri, he added: “He gives me more confidence. I think he’s a great coach and I’m very happy here’s here.”
