The Giallorosse return to Serie A action for the first time in more than two weeks, looking to bounce back after their opening defeat against Sassuolo. With a postponement and international break since then, the group have had plenty of time to reflect on that away loss – and work on those mistakes in time for their next game.
“We have worked well, we have got a bit more energy in the legs – a benefit of the recent break,” Bavagnoli said. “On the one hand that has helped us, on the other perhaps it would have been better to get the chance to play again straight away.
“But we take things how they come and try to make the best of it. We have tried to work on a few new ideas, but we are ready – for what is really a new start for us.”
After a nervy start against Sassuolo the ladies fought back with determination in the second half, and were ultimately only denied a positive result but a fair amount of bad luck. But Bavagnoli believes the fighting spirit they showed will serve them well in the long run.
“I always ask the girls to never give up, to always play with conviction and determination,” the coach added.
“Verona are a squad that, like us, have been brought together recently. We can’t take anything for granted. We will come up against a tough side, aggressive, positive.
“We must do our best to impose our quality on the match and take advantage of any errors the opposition make.”
