Few Roma fans will need reminding that it was against Sassuolo, back in 2015, that Francesco Totti scored his 300th goal for Roma.

In that game, which saw Eusebio Di Francesco in the Sassuolo dugout, goals from Totti and Mohamed Salah cancelled out Sassuolo strikes from Gregoire Defrel and Matteo Politano. The 2-2 scoreline might have been a result to forget, but it remains (another) a landmark day in Totti's career.

The Roma coach has now faced his old side four times as a manager (he was Sassuolo boss from 2012 to 2017). Before arriving at the Neroverdi he managed against them twice with Pescara, during the 2010-11 season. During that season both teams won their respective home games.

Last season, in his first as Roma boss, Di Francesco saw his side win one and draw the other - closing out the campaign with a 1-0 triumph at the Mapei Stadium. So his overall record reads: four games played, two won, one drawn, and one lost.

Sassuolo coach Roberto Di Zerbi has faced Roma twice in his managerial career, once as Palermo boss and once while in charge of Benevento. Both ended badly for him: losing 4-1 when at Palermo and 5-2 with Benevento.
