Bavagnoli determined to set record straight against Sassuolo

Coach Betty Bavagnoli admits revenge will be on the agenda, when Roma Women resume their Serie A campaign at home to Sassuolo this weekend.

The Giallorosse lost 3-2 at the start of the season to Sunday’s visitors to Stadio Tre Fontane, a result that still sticks in the memory for the coach – despite the much more positive run of form that has followed it.

And, as the campaign gets back underway this weekend after a short international break, Bavagnoli is optimistic that her side will start on the right foot.

“We have prepared well – we only really stopped training for a brief period,” Bavagnoli told Roma TV.

“We’ve got a few players back now and we’re almost at full strength: we’re ready, and we hope to start the second half of the season in the best possible way.”

She added: “We want to get a bit of revenge against Sassuolo, although that sort of intent is something we need to have for every game. Of course we remember the first game; we made a few too many mistakes – and had a lot of bad luck – and ended up giving away three valuable points. We are ready to put in a much better display, compared to that one.

“We know it will be a high-energy game; Sassuolo are a side with a lot of experience, with the quality to finish high up the table. We have improved a lot recenty, so we want to put that on show and play with the right commitment and determination.

“I would like to see all the fans at Tre Fontane on Sunday. We need their support behind us.”
