Bonfantini receives first Italy call-up after match-winning display

Two days after scoring both goals as Roma Women came from behind to beat Sassuolo in a vital game near the top of the Serie A table, forward Agnese Bonfantini has received her first call-up for Italy's senior team.

Bonfantini, 19, has been an almost ever-present for the Betty Bavagnoli's side this season - but produced arguably the signature performance of her young career to date as she scored two late goals to bring the Giallorosse back from a player and a goal down to win at Stadio Tre Fontane this weekend.

Now she has been added to coach Milena Bertolini's squad - alongside teammates Elisa Bartoli, Rosalia Pipitone and Annamaria Serturini - for the upcoming friendlies against Chile (January 18) and Wales (January 22).

Elsewhere, both Allyson Swaby (Jamaica) and Vanessa Bernauer (Switzerland) have been called up for their respective nations.

Betty Bavagnoli's squad have also seen other players called up in other Azzurri age groups.

Giada Greggi and Angelica Soffia will both join up with the Under-19 squad next week, while Heden Corrado and Primavera defender Marika Massimino have been included in the Under-17 selection.
