Florenzi: It's clear to everyone we can do a lot better

Alessandro Florenzi insisted all the Roma players were "disappointed" at "frustrated" at the manner of the side's 2-1 defeat against Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday.

While the result made no difference to the final group stage standings - Roma having previously qualified for the knockout stages - the Giallorossi nevertheless failed to end their recent winless run, as Tomas Chory ended up scoring the decisive goal for the hosts.

Luca Pellegrini was also sent off late in the game for Roma, rounding off a disappointing evening for Eusebio Di Francesco's side.

“I don’t think it’s an issue with the defence alone but the entire team; it’s clear to everybody that we can do better," Florenzi said.

"We know we can but, I’m telling you with my heart on my heart, we’re giving everything out there, from the first minute to the last.

"We didn’t want to lose this game, we wanted to send out a message to show that we care about this shirt and we want to do well for the club, but results are not going our way. Everybody at Trigoria has to pull in the same direction and give something more, starting with us players, seeing as we’re the ones who walk out onto the pitch.

"We cannot give a display like that one today. We’re disappointed and frustrated, we must find a solution at all costs.”

This is the seventh defeat of the season so far: how do you get out of this run?

“We must all find a way out of this, we must all show hunger and desire to play football with no fear. Give that little extra that you need to win games. It doesn’t matter how we play, even if we play solely route-one football, the important thing is to win. There is no other option.

"What matters is that we win our next game and then notch up as many good results as possible to climb into fourth place in the league. Regardless of the fact that we’d already qualified, we should have done more.”
