Bavagnoli hopes for strong home debut display

Roma Women’s coach Betty Bavagnoli hopes home support will inspire her side to a memorable performance against Juventus on Sunday afternoon.

The Giallorosse, competing in Serie A for the first time this season, are looking for their first win of the campaign as they make their home debut at Stadio Tre Fontane – against the defending league champions.

And, while Bavagnoli knows it won’t be an easy test, she believes her squad are ready to take the game to their rivals.

“Juventus are the strongest side in the league,” Bavagnoli said. “We respect our opponents but we won’t stop trying to play our way. We are looking forward to the test.”

She added: “Finally, we get to play at Stadio Tre Fontane in front of our fans – and that can give us a lot of motivation. Even if we are playing a tough side we must remember that we are at our home, playing for our supporters.”

Roma Women are looking to bounce back after last weekend’s frustrating 1-0 defeat against Hellas Verona.

“We are going up against the side that won the league last season and we know that it will be a tough game,” Bavagnoli added. “We have worked on some of our ideas, I’ve seen the squad is angry about not getting anything from the game in Verona and have worked even harder this week as a result.”

Sunday's game gets underway at 12:30 CEST, with Sky Sports Italia broadcasting the 90 minutes live.
