Stat Attack: 10 key facts to know as Roma face Torino

Ahead of Sunday's Serie A curtain-raiser against Torino, we look at some of the key facts and figures surrounding the game...

A winning run...

Roma have lost just one of their last 16 games against Torino in Serie A. The Giallorssi won 11 of those, drawing the other four. The one defeat came during the 2016-17 season, despite Francesco Totti scoring his 250th Serie A goal during that match.

The numbers add up...

Torino have conceded exactly one goal against Roma in each of the last five meetings at their Olimpico. Meanwhile, on the last three occasions Torino started the season at home, the Granata failed to score a goal.

Ancient history...

The last time these two sides met on the first day of Serie A was back in 1977. On that occasion, Roma secured a 2-1 home win. In total there have been three meetings: Roma winning two of them and Torino the other.

Dead-ball specialist...

Last season, Roma won the corresponding fixture 1-0 - thanks to a free-kick from Aleksandar Kolarov. Kolarov was also the only goalscoring in the Giallorossi's opening day victory over Atalanta - again from a free-kick.

Away day delight...

Roma only lost one away game last season (against Juventus), a club record. They have not lost an away game in 2018.

New foes and familiar victims...

Javier Pastore has never played against Torino, despite playing in Serie A for two seasons. To date he has scored goals against 11 of the 22 Italian clubs he has faced in the league. Patrik Schick, in contrast, has scored twice against Torino in Serie A (and once in the Coppa Italia) – making them his preferred Italian victims.

New boy with an eye for goal...

Bryan Cristante scored more goals than any other Italian midfielder last season – nine. In fact, only Edin Dzeko (16) among current Giallorossi players scored more goals than Cristante during 2017-18. Cristante scored once in pre-season for the Giallorossi, against Barcelona.

Veteran presence...

Daniel De Rossi is nine appearances from reaching 450 games in Serie A – a landmark that would move him into the top-30 all-time leading appearance makers in the competition.

A storied rivalry...

These two sides have played each other 146 times in Serie A: Roma have the edge overall, with 61 wins to Torino’s 45. The two sides have drawn on 40 occasions.

Start on the right foot...

Roma have not lost on the opening day for seven seasons – winning four times and drawing the other two.
