The 18-year-old striker, widely considered to be among the most talented up-and-coming players from South America, has penned a five-year contract with the club until June 30, 2020.
After coming through the youth ranks at the Rosario-based side and making his professional debut in 2013, Ponce became the youngest player ever to score in the Argentine league when he netted his first senior goal at home against Racing Avellaneda in 2014, aged 16 years and 11 months.
In his first season he managed 22 appearances scoring four goals and also made his debut in the Copa Libertadores.
After completing his medical with AS Roma, he said: "I'm thrilled to join a huge club like Roma and have this opportunity to play alongside world-class players. I can't wait to make my debut in a Giallorossi jersey."
