1. Digne was born in Meaux, France and signed his first professional contract with Lille in 2010 at the age of 17.
2. Lucas went on to make 49 appearances for the club, contributing two goals and four assists during his time there.
3. Although he plays primarily as a left-back, Digne has enough versatility to play as a left-sided midfielder when required.
4. Roma’s new signing has competed at every international level for France. After being capped at U16 level, he’s represented every age group for his country all the way up to the senior national team.
5. Digne has never played against Roma but he’s no stranger to his new boss. Rudi Garcia coached Lille from 2008-2013 and gave Lucas his first-team debut in October 2011, when Lille beat Sedan 3-1 in the Coupe de la Ligue.
6. When he makes his Serie A debut, Digne will become only the 9th French-born or French international player to pull on the AS Roma shirt. Vincent Candela, Jonathan Zebina, Olivier Dacourt, Philippe Mexes, Ricardo Faty,
Ludovic Giuly, Jeremy Menez and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa have all preceded him in representing the Giallorossi.
7. Digne was a key player when France won the 2013 U20 World Cup, playing all but 17 minutes in the tournament and providing two assists.
8. After impressing at the above mentioned tournament, Digne caught the eye of Paris Saint-Germain, moving to the French capital from Lille on a 5-year contract immediately after the tournament.
9. Digne represented his country again the following summer – this time for the senior team – at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, making one appearance in the group stage against Ecuador.
