Having failed to keep a clean sheet in European competition for 27 consecutive games, a 0-0 draw against BATE Borisov was enough to see the home side advance to the knock-out stages of the Champions League for the first time since 2010-11.
"It's great to watch my save back,” Szczesny claimed after reviewing his moment of magic to deny Mikhail Gordeychuk on 68 minutes. “There are times when things don't go well but when you make the difference from a positive perspective, it's nice to enjoy the moment. After conceding six against Barcelona, we kept a clean sheet today and secured qualification."
What did you make of the fans who still booed you at full time?
“I think the fans have a right to be frustrated. People come to the stadium and they want to win and watch beautiful football, so I can understand it. The most important thing is that when they get home they'll realise they're in the last 16 and they'll enjoy it."
Why can't Roma produce their best football at this moment in time?
“We have to work hard in training to improve our forward play. At the start of the season we were playing well in attack but had problems in defence. Tonight we did well at the back and lost a bit going forward. We have a great coach and I'm sure he'll sort things out."
