Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the Gialloblu coach stressed the strength in depth of Rudi Garcia's squad and the goal-scoring threat they pose early on in games.
"Even if Roma are missing a few of their starting XI, the team still has quality replacements to call upon and technical ability that makes the difference," Maran announced. "The Giallorossi score a lot of goals in the opening 15 minutes so we need to be careful.
"They are a fantastic side but nevertheless I'm pleased to begin 2016 against top-draw opposition."
The Chievo coach went on to reveal how he hopes to give a special gift to his president: "It will be Chievo's 500th game in Serie A tomorrow and I'd love to put a smile on Luca Campedelli's face for the occasion.
"We've worked really hard in the last few days and we were able to fill up the tank during the Christmas break. We have total respect for a great team like Roma, but we're intending on getting a result in this game."
